Rice & Water Charity

 

We are Dr. Dan and Haley, proud Vietnamese Americans and the founders of Tutor Smart Academy in McLean, VA, and ProHealth Medical Center in Falls Church, VA. Our mission at Rice & Water Charity is to provide water and rice donations to rural villages in Vietnam, with a special focus on supporting orphanages.

 

To give you some background, Dr. Dan was born and raised in Fountain Valley, CA, while I was born in a small village nestled in the mountains of Vietnam. My father's upbringing took place in the rural village of Son Ha, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, surrounded by picturesque countryside, and my mother grew up in Duc Loi, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, a charming seaside town. Hearing their stories of poverty and the aftermath of the Vietnam War enriched my childhood, inspiring me to make a positive impact.

 

Growing up in the United States, I've always felt a strong drive to use the opportunities and blessings I've received to give back to the impoverished rural communities of my father's mountain village and my mother's serene seaside town.

 

The Rice & Water Charity successfully launched its first GoFundMe project last year in 2023 and raised over $1,050. Over the holiday season, we delivered rice and water to the rural villagers and orphanages in the mountains of Son Ha and the picturesque seasides of Duc Loi, Quang Ngai province.

 

Now, we're excited to announce the launch of our second annual campaign for 2024 with a goal to raise $5,000. Similar to last year, we plan to donate rice, water, and soy sauce to rural villages in Duc Loi and Son Ha, Quang Ngai Province in Vietnam.

 

The cost of our donations is modest - just $4 per bag of 10 lbs of rice and $2 for one gallon of water. Considering it's roughly the price of a cup of Starbucks, we kindly urge you to support our cause. Any contribution, big or small, will significantly aid in providing nourishment to orphanages and rural areas in Vietnam.
